9-11-08 due to Hurricane Ike the entire Island of Galveston Texas has been ordered to Evacuate Galveston Island in Texas. The Gulf Coast is facing what the National Hurricane Centre says to be a Major Storm. The National Hurricane Centre said that Hurricane Ike was a category 2 Hurricane but, the National Hurricane Centre is expecting Hurricane Ike to became a Category 3 Hurricane when it hits the shore.

Yeah I put in Hurrican also in case you spelled Hurricane like Hurrican in Texas or such. Probably only people in Texas or southern parts of the usa would look up Hurrican instead eh. grin. Galveston Texas was given orders to Evacuate the entire Island of Galveston. This is a Mandatory Evacuation but, we never know for sure if there is someone out there that will try to hide and ride the storm out. I only hope that people all took their children and pets with them.

In 1900 the Deadliest Hurricane (Even what some call the Deadliest Disaster from weather) in the history of the US hit Galveston Texas. Due to the damage and impact on the Island and those that lived there at the time it was later decided to create a seawall. (Just so happens I have seen the seawall and the beautiful waters and Island of Galveston. I hope it will be there for others to see it also as it was before this storm.)

Hundreds of Thousands of people have left their homes to go further inland and try to wait for Hurricane Ike to finish the damage upon their homes and lands. This is a very sad thing but, the fact that they seem to be trying to make sure everyone is out makes me have a LITTLE Faith in the Texas people as for them trying to help each other in Galveston Texas. I would like to think that they will try to knock on every door, look into ever area and make sure everyone has a ride and way out with their pets & children ect.

I would sure hope people will not leave pets behind. That would be too shocking and evil. Ok there we have it. Houston Texas has not been given the Mandatory Evacuation Orders as Harris and Galveston later was. Houston Texas could very easily flood and get damage and effects from Hurricane Ike as well as Galveston and surrounding areas.

When I passed through Houston I saw standing water not far from the shore line due to just heavy rain. That was not even in Hurricane Weather but just when I was going to Galveston Island for my Honey Moon. I can not imagine how it will be for those near the waters and such during Hurricane Ike. I would think that Texans in Galveston, Harris, Freeport, Houston and the patch of the hurricane via the coast would be packing up and moving north toward Fort Worth and Dallas for shelter. There was word that Port Arthur was given the same Mandatory Evacuation notice as well.

Let us hope when Hurricane Ike Hits Galveston & Houston it will not be a Category 3 Hurricane and it will weaken before it can do much damage. As for the Mandatory Evacuation of Galveston Island we all know there is probably a few people out there that decided to ride it out. Let us hope they are not riding it out on the ocean waves via surf boards or such. Grin. Ok there we have it.

There will be no shelters on Galveston Island for those that do not Evacuate. They stated before Hurricane Ike was to hit the shore or land in Galveston that there will be no shelters open for anyone since it was a mandatory evacuation. If Hurricane Ike and conditions in Galveston Texas get bad and someone needs help there may be nobody there to help them. That is a bad feeling when your hurt or dying and nobody can help you. I hope nobody there has to face such things. I wish nobody in the world ever had to.

Due to the width or large and wide span of Hurricane Ike we also need to keep in mind they are calling in some weather alerts for also very strong winds and possible tornadoes & Tropical Storm Wind Alerts or Watch is put out for what they say is even Dallas and fort worth texas. A Hurricane like Ike can cause damage they are saying even 500 miles out from the actual Hurricane. Yeah if we get tornadoes or major storms I will put one of my cams out for you folks to see the live storm webcam from Dallas or north of Dallas texas. I am sure we will not get anything like Houston and such. I am pretty sure Dallas News and Dallas News Papers & Dallas News Videos and weather prediction by those are probably off in ways. We will probably not get flooding, heavy winds, tropical storm alerts and tornadoes. We could have a nice day with just air pollution and a little wind ect.

September 12, 2008 update on Hurricane Ike. Seems even before the eye of Hurricane Ike hits Galveston Island water if flooding in Galveston Streets ect. Huge Waves are crashing down over the seawall in Galveston Texas. Also they say about 90,000 or so people in a few counties have decided to stay. The news here shows people still in Galveston Texas trying to tuff out the hurricane. Seems this will bring storms and possibly twisters to us a bit north in Texas as well. They predict tomorrow we get storms here and if so of course I will have my cam also on. I have put live cams I could find to show the Hurricane Ike Damages and live cams of Ike ect off our cam pages.

I was up most of the night until a bit after 4:00am watching what seemed to be the only live Galveston Webcam or one of the very few live working Galveston Webcams. I had kept my eye on the storms via my live cam pages on this site. I had cams from TexasCity and Houston on as well until they would go out or cams would not work and go offline due to electricity going out or from just the storm ect. I saw the eye of the storm via news cams and live reporting & 247 live cams in Galveston and Houston Texas left on the pages. After a bit of giving up on changing out cams and following the path of Hurricane Ike I slept to wake up to damage reports ect. Other than the dog that was spoken of via the Galveston Beach Report last night they did not speak of finding people in Galveston dead or hurt from the storm. Sadly a couple with a dog were going to stay for the storm then later wanted help from the authorities there. In trying to get help they ended up with their dog washed away by the huge waves. That is very sad.

Early News in Texas mentioned that a boy was killed in Houston from a falling tree. That is very sad and I hope they do not find others dead or injured. Most of Houston now is with no electricity except the downtown areas of Houston Texas and seems some or one of the Hospitals and businesses are with power. Of course in Houston and Galveston ect there is flooding, trees down, homes and businesses damaged ect.

Hurricane Ike did hit Galveston at a Category 2 Hurricane instead of as they were predicting to be a category 3 by most. Still there is damage and people that will be effected for years from the loss of homes and having to start over & what they have been through. I only hope there is not people hurt or in need of help that can not get it at the time. I hope that they do not find people dead and hurt inside homes and such but, this was a Hurricane and some did pick to stay. A video on the pages even showed people that were out there in a bar drinking and having a party as the waves were blasting behind them and probably just a bit before the seawall in Galveston got taken over by the sea or ocean waves.

As of Sept. 13 2008 seems many areas and even up here a bit more north in Texas have been warned and heard talk of Tornadoes, flooding, tropical storms and high winds due to the Hurricane. Ok since I have slept only a few hours and have set to do live paint cam today we can hope it will not end up being cam 1 on storms in Dallas Texas and me on Cam 2. I am hoping more for the idea that I feel .... The Dallas News pages and News Videos ect that predict heavy storms here are wrong. That is what I hope and think. grin. We will see. Yeah seems the people in Galveston Missing from Hurricane Ike & true Death Toll in Galveston Texas is almost being candy coated and hidden. As for the real death toll due to Hurricane Ike just keep in mind all the people that were looking for neighbors and family members whom have not yet been found and could have been easily drown. This is a very sad event. Also makes you go wtf when you hear of an old lady that died due to her breathing machine going out on her. Yeah makes you think did they really knock on doors and get everyone out like they should have. Hum. That is just one case. There are many sad stories in Galveston Island now.
