POETRY SCAMS, Poetry.com-Scams-fake poetry contests, International Library of Poetry seems to me to be the same as the past National Library of POETRY some seem to have busted as Poetry SCAMS or sure been called a poetry scam by many people I have noticed! I am shocked and sad to see so many publishing scams and writers scams are still in operation. Some ask you for money to enter fake poetry contests. Some Poem publishing sites like The International Library of Poetry first ask for $50.00 to publish your entered poem then for $20.00 for your biography. They even try to make you buy poetry books your poems are listed in! If you send in a poem they tell everyone that they are winners and then ask for the money to publish them. Poetry.Com is run by the same people and they even ask for you to purchase a book with your poems in them. Everyone that sends in poems to their fake poetry contests or really badly operated and judged ones to make profit not poets. Some are said to be winners. Either it is a really bad deal or a poetry scam since then they ask you to purchase books for about $70.00 each with your poems in them. They even go so far as to charge you a lot of money to attend an event in person. I feel all poetry scams need to be exposed and known about to stop more from being victims of writers or poetry scams & other writing scams ect. |
The International Library of Poetry is also known as Poetry.com Watermark Press International Society of Poets Beware they are called poetry scams by many since they seem to be set out to make money off poets and they seem to care nothing about the poetry or poets themselves. |

The International Library of Poetry used to be called The National Library of Poetry. If a company changes their name often and has many other names that in itself is a bad sign. They not only charge you to publish your poems but they also get money from other poetry scams all over the internet. They even rack up thousands of dollars off each poetry scam victim. Below is an example of what else they offer you to throw away your money on. Have Your poem mounted on a walnut finished plaque for $38.00, Your poem to be read by a professional reader on cassette tape for $29.95, your poem printed on 96 laminated wallet-sized cards for $49.95, an invitation to join the International Society of Poets, (also located in Owings Mills, Md)., and to attend its annual convention is $595.00. election into the International Poetry Hall of Fame, and a permanent Poetry Exhibit in their World Wide Web museum for 189.00. They also offer to set your poetry to music for $299.00 to make it into a song That poetry publishing contests have been called a scam website by many after testing the poems accepted. Another similar contest people have referred to a lot as a scam is a photo contests or photography contests. They also seem similar since they ask you pay money to go to other award contests like the International Pet Owners Club or pet photo and those people call photography scam contest. If you do not think you can easily spend money on rip offs or bad deals and things that you should not really keep on with. Why pay criminals to post your poems when you can do it all yourself and make money off them instead of throwing it away in fake poetry contests. I am sorry that I have started using Google AdSense to try to build an income off this website. I can only hope they do not toss up ads for scam websites. Remember in following any links by Google off my website that I sadly HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHERE THEY WILL LEAD AND DIRECT YOU. I however had found some companies that advertise with Google are not all bad. They are just the internet companies that have the money to pay for over priced or expensive ads online and not care where they are seen ect. It seems even some legit companies are in ways running scams. Sadly there are way too many to list at times but, I will do the very best that I can to warn you of things I feel are a danger or something you should be aware of and look out for. I believe that poetry dot com is a bad deal because someone can write the worse poem ever then see how they accept it and try to sell you a books and trips or hotel stay in the contests ect. Also to me it seems they have such terrible poems at www.poetry.com that this would be an insult to have poems in such books. If you do not self publish poetry books at least get in with someone that will pay to publish and you will get free books and or money ect. Funny to write the worse poem ever then watch how fast they accept and say your a winner or runner up on grand prize money ect. It is spooky that some people really fall for it. |

As of today I just got an email showing that the poetry.com scams come in my email daily from other companies and some are even worse. The poetry contest that I feel is a fake contest scam set up to sell books and over priced stay at hotels has now hit an even worse by sending me emails to insult me so. They are using the purchase of ISBN numbers for a single poem. You people can buy ISBN Numbers online yourself. Some people that want to publish many books or plan to write a lot of BOOKS should purchase a block of ISBN Numbers but, you do already have copyrights on things you write. It is also unheard of to purchase an ISBN number for a single poem or article. The Book ISBN Numbers are for books that are going to be sent out to stores and book distributors like Walden Books ( Borders ), B Dalton Books and more. There is no need to copyright protect a damn poem or one story! Also omg they charge you what it costs to get an entire block of ISBN Numbers then some! If you buy them by the blocks you can do many books with different ISBN NUMBERS! The ISBN is a unique number for the purpose of book registration. ISBN Numbers and Bar Codes are needed for books that are bought by distributors! The Poetry Scams and sites like poetry.com anger me and it shows that scam companies in the usa have sunk to even a lower level of filth!
Below is the email I got that shows another reason I feel they are trying to scam people with ISBN Numbers now. PLEASE Edward Curran and Poetry.com don't send me things like you think I am so ignorant. There are places you can even get cheap ISBN numbers and use for books to get published yourself. I am going to tell and show you have to publish your own books. I will tell you the cheapest way that I am aware of and list where you should send you books to. Do not pay people to read your books or proof read them. Do not pay a middle man ( Agent ) for there is not a need for that if you ask me. You can do things yourself and if your a good enough writer they will accept and buy your books or poetry books. This is not so hard to do and that poetry company and many others take advantage of lack of knowledge or ignorance to things. Oh usa before you send me hate mail the true meaning of the word ignorance is to be uninformed in this case.

copyrighting with them. Once you write a poem, your work is protected by copyright. However, the problem exists when you attempt to enforce your copyright. If you haven’t registered your work with the Copyright Office of the U.S. Library of Congress, you may not be able to prove the date on which you wrote the material. Many people choose to have their poetry copyrighted so that there is a permanent record of their written material. For that reason, I’ve created a special promotion where I will assign your material an International Standard Book Number (ISBN), fill out all of the necessary paperwork, print the additional two copies, and pay the registration fee . . . all for free. Some publishers charge hundreds of dollars for this service, but I am willing to do it for absolutely free once your material has completed the layout process. There are some costs involved in publishing, but many of our authors spend less than $300 preparing their manuscript for publication. This isn’t some flashy way to sell books, although we do hope that you become a long-term customer with a successful career as an author.
